The Hope and Anchor is situated in the hamlet of Blacktoft on the banks of the tidal River Ouse close to its confluence with the Rivers Humber and Trent. Built in 1829 to serve the local ferry and ships using this tidal part of the river the pub has a great deal to offer the visitor, with superb views over the river to the Blackfoft Sands, a nature reserve for waterfowl and also situated directly on the Eastern leg of the popular Trans-Pennine Trail. We offer a warm welcome to all, be it to enjoy a refreshing pint of ale in our bar or beer garden or to fill up with a hearty meal.
We are a Free House. Our bar is stocked with a selection of fine cask conditioned ales with a rotation of guest beers on a regular basis. We serve home cooked food made, where possible, with locally sourced ingredients. We offer a separate Sunday Lunch menu featuring the traditional Sunday Roast. Sunday is a busy time so booking is highly recommended.
